We’ve heard from several residents that the internet connection in some buildings isn’t always great. A stable internet connection is essential for students. Classes, assignments, and communication are increasingly online, and we want to make sure you can stay connected without problems.
There are also safety and legal requirements:
- Cables are not allowed in shared areas due to fire safety.
- Only certified companies (like ITT-desk) can install these systems.
- Sharing wifi with others is not allowed by internet providers and comes with risks:
- Unsecured networks can lead to data leaks or misuse.
- Shared networks are slower and less stable.
- Providers may shut down your service if sharing is detected.
In short: having your own secure connection is safer and complies with regulations.
That’s why Maasvallei is working together with ITT-desk to provide fast and reliable Wi-Fi for all student residents.
What does this mean for you?
- You pay €21.50 per month for internet through your rent.
(This is much cheaper than most other providers.) - No installation fees or provider hassle – we’ll arrange everything for you.
- ITT-desk will help you directly if you have questions or problems.
Do I have to use Maasvallei Wi-Fi?
No, current tenants can keep their own internet connection. New tenants will automatically get Maasvallei Wi-Fi (included in their service costs).
Note: sharing Wi-Fi with new tenants is no longer allowed.
What happens to your current connection?
All cables, routers, and other internet equipment in shared areas or hallways must be removed for safety reasons.
- If you already received a message about this, please take action soon.
- If Maasvallei removes these cables and you still depend on them, you may temporarily lose your internet connection.
